Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to vulnerable individuals in their own homes. The Care Assistant will support clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort, dignity and well-being while adhering to care plans tailored to each individual's needs.

Duties

1. Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
2. Support individuals with mobility and physical activities, ensuring safety at all times.
3. Implement and follow care plans as directed by senior staff, adjusting support as necessary based on individual needs.
4. Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in clients conditions to the appropriate personnel.
5. Foster positive relationships with clients through effective communication and companionship.
6. Help with meal preparation and feeding when required, ensuring dietary needs are met.
7. Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge in care practices.
8. Drive to various locations if required for home visits or community outings, ensuring safe transportation for clients.

Experience

1. Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
2. Strong communication skills in English are necessary for effective interaction with clients, families and team members.
3. Basic IT skills are advantageous for maintaining records and using care management software.

The role of a live-in carer is varied and depends on the Client in question. The role is quite independent, as you’ll be working with the client one-to-one without direct supervision.

We aim to support each client to remain living in their own home for as long as they require. This includes supporting each client with high quality care, that is respectful, dignified and encourages independence whilst adhering to the support plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

To assist clients with all aspects of their personal care, including;

1. Showering and bathing
2. Dressing and grooming
3. Toileting and incontinence
4. Teeth and dentures

To assist clients with all aspects of medication, including;

1. Administration
2. Prompting
3. Reminding
4. Communicating with the pharmacy and pick up
5. Encouragement.

To assist clients with all aspects of their meal preparation, including;

1. Cooking and re-heating
2. Preparing and serving of meals

Preparing and clearing the table;

1. Safe storage and infection control
2. Communicating with the customer and disposing of unsafe food

To support clients in the use of aids and personal equipment, including;

1. Standing and walking frames
2. Wheelchairs
3. Manual and electric hoists
4. Sliding sheets and moving boards
5. Hearing aids and other physical aids

To support clients with home management, including;

1. Hovering and sweeping
2. Washing and storing the dishes
3. Washing clothes and hanging them up
4. Making beds and changing the lining
5. Dusting and general tidying
6. Answer the door and greet visitors
7. Answer emergency bells and the telephone

To help in the promotion of a client’s mental and physical activities, such as;

1. Communication and engagement
2. Going out
3. Reading, photo albums and writing
4. Hobbies and recreations

To document and report all relevant client information, including;

1. Emergency management
2. Family involvement
3. External health teams

To support a client through temporary and terminal illness, including;

1. End-of-life care
2. Hospital appointments
3. Personal care in bed

To work as part of the TrustBridge Care team, which includes;

1. Take part in staff and customer meetings
2. Training activities as directed
3. To read and write reports
4. To attend appraisal and development meetings
5. To communicate in various formats

To comply with the TrustBridge business guidelines and policies at all times.
